Suri Cruise is stepping further into the world of theater, with the 20-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes set to appear in a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Cruise will be part of Midsummer!, a 90-minute production being created and performed by students from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. The play will preview at the Trust Arts Education Center’s Peirce Studio in Pittsburgh on July 31 and August 1, 2026, before transferring to Scotland for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The production is a modern verse translation by Tony Award-winning playwright Jeffrey Whitty, best known for Avenue Q, and is directed by Kim Weild. According to Carnegie Mellon, the production features 26 characters performed by nine actors and is being developed in partnership with Play On Shakespeare. The university has described the project as a major opportunity for its student artists to take their work onto an international stage during Carnegie Mellon’s 125th anniversary year.
Cruise is currently studying musical theater at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama and recently completed her sophomore year. Her involvement in Midsummer! marks another step in a developing theater career that began before the Shakespeare adaptation. In March 2026, she appeared as Angel in a staged reading of Cosmic Microwave Background at Pittsburgh’s New Hazlett Theater. Earlier, while attending New York’s LaGuardia High School, she reportedly played Morticia Addams in a 2023 production of The Addams Family: A New Musical. She has also contributed vocals to two films directed by her mother, Alone Together and Rare Objects.
The production has attracted attention because of Cruise’s famous family background, but her recent work has largely followed a traditional theater-training path. She graduated from LaGuardia High School in 2024 and has since pursued formal musical-theater education at Carnegie Mellon.
Her exact character in Midsummer! has not been clearly identified in the official Carnegie Mellon event listing. However, the university’s official production information confirms Suri Noelle as part of the cast, alongside fellow student performers. The show is scheduled to continue at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe after its Pittsburgh previews, giving Cruise an opportunity to perform before an international theater audience.
The stage production represents a notable new chapter for Suri Noelle as she develops her own identity in the performing arts, separate from the Hollywood careers of her parents.
