Anya Taylor-Joy’s New Thriller Series ‘Lucky’ Trailer Released

Apple TV+ has unveiled the first full trailer for “Lucky,” an upcoming crime thriller series led by award-winning actress Anya Taylor-Joy, giving audiences a closer look at what is shaping up to be one of the platform’s most anticipated releases of the year.

The newly released footage introduces viewers to a tense and emotionally layered story centered on a woman determined to leave her troubled past behind. Taylor-Joy stars as Lucky, a former con artist who has spent years building a new life for herself. Yet as the trailer quickly reveals, escaping the past is rarely simple. A dangerous chain of events forces her back into a world she believed she had left behind, setting the stage for a gripping battle involving crime, survival, and personal redemption.

Based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel of the same name, the seven-episode limited series combines elements of suspense, mystery, and action. The story follows Lucky as she finds herself caught between federal investigators and powerful criminal figures, all while confronting long-buried secrets that threaten to reshape her future. The trailer showcases high-speed pursuits, tense confrontations, and moments of emotional vulnerability, suggesting a narrative that balances thrilling action with deeply personal stakes.

Beyond starring in the series, Taylor-Joy also serves as an executive producer, further highlighting her involvement in the project. Over the past several years, she has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after performers through acclaimed roles in projects such as “The Queen’s Gambit,” “The Menu,” and “Furiosa.” Her participation has become one of the major reasons industry observers have been closely following the development of “Lucky.”

The series also features a strong supporting cast, including Academy Award nominee Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins Jr., William Fichtner, Mo McRae, and Eric Lange. Their presence adds further weight to a production already generating considerable attention ahead of its debut.

Behind the scenes, the project brings together Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, the production company founded by Reese Witherspoon. The adaptation is overseen by creator Jonathan Tropper alongside co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, while Jonathan van Tulleken directs the series.

Apple TV+ has confirmed that “Lucky” will premiere globally on July 15, with the first two episodes becoming available on launch day. New episodes will then be released weekly, leading up to the finale in August.

With its combination of bestselling source material, a celebrated lead actress, and a story built around danger, deception, and second chances, “Lucky” is already attracting significant attention. As the newly released trailer makes clear, viewers can expect a suspenseful journey where every decision carries consequences and where the past may prove impossible to outrun.
