Charlie Sheen Settles Dispute With Ex-Wife Brooke Mueller

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Actor Charlie Sheen and his former wife, Brooke Mueller, have reached a settlement in a long-running child support dispute, bringing an end to years of legal disagreement over financial obligations tied to the couple’s twin sons. The agreement resolves claims that stretched back more than a decade and marks the latest chapter in a relationship that has frequently drawn public attention since their divorce in 2011.

According to court filings, Sheen agreed to pay Mueller $500,000 as part of the settlement. The payment will be made in two installments, with $250,000 due by July 10, 2026, and the remaining $250,000 by September 1, 2026. The settlement covers all disputed child support arrears and related interest accumulated between March 2011 and July 2026, effectively ending the legal battle over those claims.

The dispute intensified late last year when Mueller filed court documents alleging that Sheen owed approximately $15.3 million in unpaid child support and accrued interest. Her filing claimed nearly $9 million in unpaid support and more than $6 million in interest, while also requesting reimbursement for legal fees. Mueller argued that a court order issued in 2010 required Sheen to pay $55,000 per month in child support and alleged that regular payments stopped after July 2011, with only partial or inconsistent payments made thereafter.

Rather than continue what could have been lengthy litigation, both parties agreed to settle the matter for a significantly smaller amount after reviewing financial records, payment credits, and the time the children spent living with each parent. The agreement resolves all outstanding claims without requiring further court proceedings over the disputed figures.

In addition to settling the financial dispute, the agreement establishes a new arrangement for the care of the couple’s twin sons, Bob and Max, who are now 17 years old. Beginning in July 2026, each parent will be responsible for covering the children’s expenses during the periods they are in that parent’s care. The revised arrangement replaces the previous child support structure that had been in place since the couple’s divorce.

The custody terms remain largely unchanged. Sheen and Mueller will continue to share joint legal custody, while the twins’ primary residence will remain with Sheen. Mueller will continue to have parenting time under the terms outlined in the agreement. Court documents also reaffirm an existing provision stating that if Mueller relapses or tests positive for drugs or alcohol, Sheen may seek sole custody under expedited legal procedures, subject to court review.

Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller married in 2008 and welcomed their twin sons in 2009 before divorcing two years later. Their relationship, including custody and financial matters, has remained the subject of periodic legal proceedings and public attention over the years.

Neither Sheen nor Mueller has publicly commented on the latest settlement. However, the agreement brings a measure of finality to one of the most significant remaining legal disputes between the former spouses, allowing both sides to move forward under a newly defined financial and parenting arrangement centered on the well-being of their children.
