Hollywood star Will Smith is reportedly in talks to join director Atlee’s ambitious sci-fi epic Raaka, potentially taking on the role of the film’s primary antagonist opposite Allu Arjun. The development, first reported by Mid-Day and subsequently picked up by several major entertainment outlets, could add another international dimension to one of Indian cinema’s most closely watched upcoming productions. However, an official confirmation from the filmmakers or Sun Pictures has not yet been announced.
According to the reports, Smith was approached for the antagonist role last year and discussions have continued for around a year. His dates are now reportedly being worked out for an overseas shooting schedule, with the location expected to be finalized according to his availability. A production source cited by Mid-Day also claimed that Smith’s costumes have already been finalized, suggesting that preparations for the proposed role have moved forward, although this does not confirm that the actor has formally signed the film.
If the casting is completed, Raaka would reportedly mark Smith’s first acting appearance in an Indian film. The project is directed by Atlee, whose previous film Jawan became a major commercial success, and stars Allu Arjun in the lead alongside Deepika Padukone. Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur have also been linked to the large-scale production in various reports.
Raaka was previously known by its working title AA22xA6 before the makers officially revealed its title in April 2026. The film is being produced by Sun Pictures and is planned as a large-scale science-fiction action project. Reports have suggested that the story could involve multiple timelines or parallel worlds and that Allu Arjun may portray multiple characters, but these plot details have not been officially confirmed by the filmmakers.
The project has also been surrounded by reports linking Shah Rukh Khan to a role in the film, with some recent reports claiming he could participate in an international schedule. His involvement, like Smith’s, has not been publicly confirmed by Sun Pictures on its official project information.
For now, the Will Smith development remains a casting report rather than an official announcement. If negotiations are successfully completed, however, his potential face-off with Allu Arjun would make Raaka an unusually prominent collaboration between Hollywood and Indian cinema.
